Quality Practice Award Success

Quality Practice Award Logo

On 27th May 2011 the practice was awarded the Royal College of General Practitioners Quality Practice Award for the second time. QPA is a quality assurance process which recognises a high standard of quality patient care delivered by every member of the practice team.

Over 18 months our practice team, including doctors, practice nurses, district nurses, health visitors, practice pharmacist, management and admin staff worked closely together to assess the whole range of services and care provided to patients to ensure it is of a high quality. We submitted our portfolio of evidence in early March 2011 and this was followed by a full one day visit from a Royal College of General Practitioners Assessment Team. The visiting team interviewed most members of the practice team as well as speaking to a number of patients on the day and some of the highlights listed in their report included the following:

  • Modern purpose built health centre
  • Friendly welcoming practice team
  • Training Practice
  • Strong patient focus
  • Strong focus on continued practice development
  • High level of patient satisfaction
  • Excellent team working
  • Medicines management and our repeat prescribing system
  • Practice Pharmacist
  • Well developed practice website
  • Strong commitment to improving local health care services
  • Excellent patient access
  • Stable practice team
  • Excellent working environment
  • High quality audit work

They concluded their very positive report by saying, "We congratulate the practice on achieving the Quality Practice Award for the second time. The strong patient focus and high academic standards demonstrated by the practice form a sound basis for further development in the future for which we wish them every success".

We are all delighted with this award and would like to take this opportunity to thank our team for their commitment and hard work over the past 18 months. We would also like to thank the patients who willingly gave up their time to be interviewed on the day of the visit, as well as attend interviews over the past months with various members of the team to give feedback on the services we are providing.

We remain committed to continually improving our service to our patients and will continue to build on the work already done for this Quality Award.
