Other Immunisation Programmes

Shingles vaccination

From 1 October 2013 the shingles vaccine will be offered to everyone who will be aged 70, 78 and 79 on 1st September 2014. If you were 70 years old on 1 September 2013 and missed getting the vaccine you will still be eligible this year. To find out more visit

Information for parents of children aged 2-5 years old

The next phase of the immunisation programme will include children aged 2-5 years. For most children, the flu vaccine is given as a nasal (nose) spray into each nostril. It is not an injection and it is quick and painless.

Children with underlying medical conditions will continue to be offered the flu vaccine from 6 months of age. However, the nasal spray will not be offered to babies under 2 years of age because it is not licensed in this age group.

Please telephone the surgery to make an appointment for one of the children only clinics.
