Practice Team

View details of the full Primary Health Care Team.

Practice Nursing Team

We have a team of 5 practice nurses and 2 health care assistants.

The practice nurses are very experienced in chronic disease management, including asthma, diabetes and coronary heart disease, health promotion, well woman, including cervical smears, and numerous treatment room tasks. These include general wound care, stitch removal, ear syringing, giving injections, dietary and lifestyle advice, travel health and immunisations.

The health care assistants are not practice nurses, and will only deal with a very limited range of procedures e.g. taking blood samples, urine samples, blood pressures, ECGs, new patient checks.

Practice Manager

Mrs Lyn Williamson joined the practice as Office Manager in 2001 and from April 2015 is now our Practice Manager. She is responsible for the full range of management duties within the practice.

Reception and Administration Team

Led by Team Leader Carol Wilson, there is a full complement of experienced reception/administration staff and they are the first point of contact between the patient and the practice. They carry out the full range of tasks which are essential to the efficient and effective running of the practice, as well as having individual administrative responsibilities. To ensure the practice systems and procedures are operating to a high standard we encourage staff to cross-cover at both our surgery sites whenever possible.

There will be occasions when the reception staff will ask for some simple medical details, particularly for home visit requests and telephone consultations. This is information the doctors have asked for so that they can give priority to the most urgent cases.

Health Visitors

We have a Health Visiting Team attached to the practice and they are based primarily at the main surgery site at Taymount, although initial home visits can be carried out in the Scone area also. They are fully involved in Child Health Surveillance and Child Protection and make public health a priority. The also offer practice home-based advice and support for parents and children under the age of 5, focusing on breast feeding, nutrition, dental health and accident prevention.

Childhood immunisations are now carried out at a central clinic within Drumhar Health Centre, in the city centre. They are administered by the NHS Tayside Immunisation Team and appointments are sent to patients directly by the Child Health Team. The Health Visiting Team will continue to offer pre and post immunisation advice, where this is required.

They can be contacted by telephone on 442219.

District Nurses

The District Nursing Team provides nursing care to patients who require nursing care at home. This not only involves routine visits, but also includes assessment and management of long term conditions, palliative and end of life care. Community nursing care is provided over 24 hours, with the evening and overnight service responding to calls out of hours.

The District Nursing Team continually strive to develop the service to meet ever-changing needs; they can be contacted by telephoning 445947.

Practice Pharmacist

We are fortunate to have a pharmacist, Graeme Lamont, attached to the practice and he works closely with the doctors to ensure a high standard of prescribing is maintained. The pharmacist has qualified as an independent prescriber and this will enable him to fully support the doctors in reviewing patients' medication.

The pharmacist can be contacted at Taymount Surgery by telephone on 627117.
