Meet the Nurses

We have a highly skilled nursing team of 5 practice nurses and 2 healthcare assistants, as well as a full complement of attached community nurses.

Practice Nursing Team

We have a team of 5 practice nurses and 2 health care assistants.

Our practice nurses are very experienced in practice nursing and chronic disease management, including asthma, diabetes and coronary heart disease, health promotion, well woman checks (including cervical smears and breast awareness), travel health advice and immunisations, cryotherapy, and numerous treatment room duties such as wound care, stitch removal, ear syringing and injections.

The health care assistants deal with procedures such as taking blood samples, urine samples, blood pressures, ECGs, and new patient checks.

Community Nurses

We have a full complement of attached community nursing staff who cover the Perth city area.

Health Visitors

The Health Visiting Team attached to the practice are based primarily at the main surgery site at Taymount, although initial home visits can be carried out in the Scone area also. They are fully involved in Child Health Surveillance and Child Protection and make public health a priority. The also offer practice home-based advice and support for parents and children under the age of 5, focusing on breast feeding, nutrition, dental health and accident prevention.

Childhood immunisations are now carried out at a central clinic within Drumhar Health Centre, in the city centre. They are administered by the NHS Tayside Immunisation Team and appointments are sent to patients directly by the Child Health Team. The Health Visiting Team will continue to offer pre and post immunisation advice, where this is required.

The Community Nurses can be contacted by telephone on 01738 442219.

District Nurses

The District Nursing Team provides nursing care to patients who require nursing care at home. This not only involves routine visits, but also includes assessment and management of long term conditions, palliative and end of life care. Community nursing care is provided over 24 hours, with the evening and overnight service responding to calls out of hours.

The District Nursing Team continually strive to develop the service to meet ever-changing needs.
